SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING June 16, 2008 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SCJ Deputy Clerk Attendees: Cyndi Eldredge, Tammy Gallegos, Wade Tangreen, Greg Adams, Bruce Bunker, John Fellmeth, Howard Randall A motion to approve the minutes of June 9, 2008, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Cyndi Eldredge - SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a change in payroll request for Josh Keyes, acting weed supervisor, from a Step 58 to a Step 68. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy was absent for the vote. John Fellmeth - SJC IT John presented a procurement request for a Epson Photo Stylis R2400 Printer in the amount of $699.99 from Epson America. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Wade Tangreen - SJC Resident Mr. Tangreen presented a request to have a different parcel number given to a section of property he owns that has a mobile home on it. Mr. Tangreen states that in order to get a loan the property cannot have a mobile home on it and he doesn't want to subdivide. The Commissioners referred Mr. Tangreen to Bruce Bunker and Greg Adams saying that he needs to talk to planning and zoning first. -1- Tammy Gallegos - SJC Administrative Assistant Tammy presented a Legal Services Contract for approval and signature in the amount of $1300. A motion to approve signature of the contract was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Norman l. Johnson - SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman presented a request to Commissioners to negotiate the sale of the old outdated ES&S Voting equipment to San Juan County, New Mexico. Norman states that we no longer use the equipment and SJC, NM is interested in buying it for parts and backup. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Howard Randall - SJC Assessor Howard presented a list of businesses that requested Utah Personal Property Tax Exemption for 2008. A motion to approve the list for exemptions, as of June 16, 2008, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Greg Adams - SJC Planning and Zoning Greg presented Phase 1 Amendment 1 for Copper Cliffs Subdivision for approval and signature. A motion to approve signature of the amendment, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Rick Bailey - SJC Administrator Rick presented two building permits for approval and signature. Tony Lema - Residence - Penny Lane, La Sal Wendell & Eliza Fry - Residence - Browns Canyon Road, Blanding A motion to approve the building permits, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Rick presented a sign permit application from Taylor Made Wooden Heritage Inc., for approval and signature. A motion to approve the permit was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. -2- Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens attended a Tourism Board meeting last Friday. This afternoon he will attend a Mental Health Board meeting, on Thursday he will meet with the BLM in Salt Lake and Friday he will attend a UAC Board meeting. Commissioner Maryboy attended a Chapter Meeting in Red Mesa last Tuesday and met with the Bluff Service Area on Wednesday. He plans to attend the Mental Health Board meeting today. He will be in Washington D.C. the rest of the week on the Navajo Trust Fund issue. Commissioner Adams attended the La Sal Senior Center Grand Opening along with Commissioner Stevens last Wednesday, met with the Tourism Board Thursday night and will attend the Mental Health Board meeting this afternoon.
