SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING November 17, 2008 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrative Assistant Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SCJ Deputy Clerk Attendees: Marilyn Boynton, Scott Burton, Cyndi Eldredge, Howard Randall A motion to approve the minutes of November 3 and 10, 2008, with corrections, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Cyndi Eldredge - SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to promote Krista Keyes from Assistant Librarian to Librarian. Krista will be going from a Step 5 to a Step 47. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Howard Randall - SJC Assessor Howard presented a request from Blue Mountain Hospital, parcel number B36220347814, to be exempt from their 2008 taxes. Howard states that they meet all the requirements set by the State to be considered exempt. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Tammy Gallegos - SJC Administrative Assistant Tammy presented one building permit for approval and signature. Martha Callihan - Residence - W Cobble Lane, Bluff A motion to approve the building request, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. -1- Norman L. Johnson - SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman presented two professional service contracts for the Mexican Hat Special Service District with Daniel A. Fleming. The contracts are for the waste water and culinary water systems. Daniel is a Utah Certified Water and Waste Water Operator. The contracts are for $200 and $800 per month, respectively, along with usual ordinary travel compensation at the County approved rates. Following a brief discussion Commissioner Stevens made a motion to approve and sign the contracts. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Commission Reports Commissioner Maryboy attended a Chapter Meeting in Red Mesa last week and was in St. George for UAC through Thursday. He plans to be in Window Rock on Wednesday and Thursday and in Page and Tuba City, AZ on Saturday. Commissioner Stevens attended UAC last week in St. George. Tuesday he plans to attend the Library Board Meeting and Wednesday he will be giving testimony on Salt Creek. Friday and Saturday he will be attending Economic Development Meetings. Commissioner Adams attended UAC last week as well. He plans to be in Price on Thursday for AOG. He states he will be out of town Monday December 8, 2008 and will not be here for Commission Meeting. Recess 11:17 A.M. 12:00P.M. - Norman L. Johnson - 2008 General Election Canvass Norman presented the individual poll books and documentation on the final totals for the General Election. There are 142 votes to be included in the final count which is made up of 37 absentee and 105 of the 171 provisional ballots. Following a general discussion of the elections a motion to approve the results was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed.
