SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING August 2, 2010 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SJC Deputy Clerk Attendees: Neil Joslin, Phil Lyman, Larry Sorrell, Kelly Pehrson, Jerry McNeely, Marilyn Boynton, Charlie DeLorme, Brooke Williams A motion to approve the minutes of July 26, 2010 was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Charlie DeLorme – SJC Ec. Development Charlie presented two out of state travel requests. One to Dallas, TX for Pam Hanson in the amount of $1,065.35 and one to San Francisco, CA for Charlie in the amount of $619. A motion to approve the requests was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Lynn Stevens seconded the request. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Rick Bailey – SJC Administrator Rick presented two building permits for approval and signature. Philip Kopell – Residence – S Hwy 191, Spanish Valley Clark Maughn – Garage/Office – E Coronado, Spanish Valley A motion to approve the building permits, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Rick presented a request to appoint Jennifer Adelman to the La Sal Recreation Special Service District. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Rick reported to Commissioners about flooding that took place in Monument Valley over the weekend stating that the road crew worked on getting roads fixed that had been washed out. Jerry McNeely – SJC Liaison Jerry updated Commissioners on the various meetings he has attended including an executive housing authority board meeting, also meetings with BLM and SITLA . Commission Reports Commissioner Maryboy reported that he was in Red Mesa on Wednesday and plans to be in the County this week Commissioner Stevens reported that he attended Southeast Utah State Public Health Board Meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday a Recapture trail meeting and met with three people from BLM. Commissioner Adams expressed his concern over how the BLM has handled their investigation concerning County employee’s use of the trail cat within the county and under the direction of the Road Department.
