SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING September 17, 2012 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room in Monticello, Utah. Present: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Phil Lyman, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrative Assistant Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn R. Shaw, SJC Deputy Clerk Absent: Bruce Adams, Chairman Attendees: Jerry McNeely, Bill Boyle, Marilyn Boynton, Monte Wells, Greg Adams, Larry & Carla Sorrell, Tully Kurstetter, Victor Shafer, Susan Taylor, Gail Johnson, Phil Glaze, Mark Maryboy, Linda Larson Anjee Bradford – Design Build Bluff Representatives from Design Build Bluff reported to Commissioners that they would like retroactive non-profit abatement status. Commissioners asked Greg Adams, P&Z, to see if the appropriate paper work has been filled out for the abatement in the assessor’s office. Greg stated it had not and directed them to the Assessor’s Office to start the process. The Commission indicated future status would be considered when all the proper applicationswere completed. Dustin Fife – SJC Library Director Dustin updated Commissioners on items to be purchased with the LSTA Grant for libraries. Greg Adams – SJC P&Z Greg reported to Commissioners with a list of properties on the BOE/USTC appeals list and the process needed to go through the appeals. Commissioner Phil Lyman questioned why some of the properties where on the list when he thought they had been taken care of in BOE and specified two properties that are not on the list as had been agreed upon in BOE. Greg stated that he would research said properties and bring the issue back for further action. Norman L. Johnson – SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman presented a list of the tentative schedule for the 2013 Budget process. Norman reported to Commissioners that the AOC is looking for a Board Member and stated he has only received one name for the position. Commissioners asked that the issue be tabled until next week. Jerry McNeely – SJC Liaison Jerry reported to Commissioners on the various projects he has been working on including attending a Conference in Midway and he plans to represent SJ County at Forest Service meetings regarding work to be done on Brumley Pass. Nick Sandberg – SJC Planning Nick presented a letter for Commission signature to the BLM regarding the Indian Creek ATV Trail Application. A motion to approve Commission signature was made by Commissioner Phil Lyman. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Nick reported to Commissioners that the “24 Hours of Moab” bike race will be held October 6 and 7, 2012. Open Time and Other Business Phil Glaze, SJC Resident, reported to Commissioners that he is the developer of the Wilson Arch Subdivision and he is trying to get traffic to slow down through the subdivision. Commissioners directed Phil to attend the Road Meeting October 1, 2012 at 8:00 A.M. Mark Maryboy, SJC Resident, updated Commissioners on the work that is being done on the Dine Baciya issue and reminded them that they would be meeting on Wednesday. Commission Reports Commissioner Maryboy reported that he will be in Washington DC for the Navajo Nation later this week but plans to be around until then.
