A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas

Reviewed by L. Bennett

Three persons of the noble class of London die within a short time of one another. Family and friends are surprised but until a local police detective receives a letter from Sherlock Holmes, no one questioned the deaths. When the police, Scotland Yard, and Sherlock undertake investigations, the plot thickens. Thickens in ways that readers of Holmes novels may find, well, novel. And certainly outside the norm for Victorian England.

This was a fun read and a good hook for author Sherry Thomas's new series of Sherlock Holmes stories. A complex plot with surprises on the part of both investigators and criminals will entertain all but the most stalwart Conan Doyle fans.
