On a quiet morning someone shoots nine people in a small Alaska town, including a well-known local woman called Lisa. Warned by a state trooper that the killer is headed her way, Kate Shugak grabs her shotgun and waits for the killer. The simple capture soon opens the door to a complicated situation. This is one of Dana Stabenow's series featuring Shugak, an Alaska native and trained law enforcement officer now doing private investigative work. It was a quick read with interesting twists and good juxtaposition of modern science and traditional values.
