Full-time South District Light Equipment Operator

General Purpose

This position requires more experience skills and abilities relating to the operation and maintenance of equipment used in road construction, maintenance and repair of county roads.  Shows the ability to assist the District Road Supervisor on projects and is available for some supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the District Road Supervisor.  Works under the direction of the District Road Supervisor and the Road Operations Manager.

Essential Functions

- Must be able to operate with proficiency all equipment in the Laborer and Laborer/Light Equipment Operator classification and has some limited experience operating a grader, dozer, scraper and transport equipment including an end dump and belly dump.
- Is capable of limited supervising in absence of the District Supervisor.
- Has the ability to train less experienced employees on different types of road equipment.
- Must be able to understand basic road construction guidelines.
- Performs pre/post trips, safety checks and service on assigned equipment.  Performs routine maintenance and emergency situations on a 7 day/24 hour basis, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

- Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Driver’s License Class “A”, with a clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT medical certification.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be able to report for work on time and to perform the duties of the job for the entire workday.

Starting Salary $15.45 - 15.91 / hr DOE
