Bail

Bail is set by the judge that has jurisdiction over the case the inmate is involved in. The judge has 24 hours to review the probable cause statement submitted by the officer and set the bail for the inmate. Based on the probable cause, the judge can set a dollar amount for the bail or choose an unsecured bond option.

An unsecured bond is very similar to releasing an inmate on their own recognizance, but it has a dollar amount attached to it. The inmate is released with the understanding that if he/she does not show up for court, then the court will send that bail amount to collections and get it from them that way. A warrant will also be issued for failing to show up for court.

Paying for bail:

Cash

A family member or friend can pay the bail amount in cash at the Sheriff's Office 24/7. If the inmate has enough cash on hand, he/she can pay for their own bail.

Credit Card

Bail can be paid through the inmate accounting system at jailatm.com via major credit card. There is a fee associated with this.

Bail Bond

Bail can also be paid through a Utah state license bail bond agency. Faxed bail bonds are not accepted.
